Choquequirao Trek 4D / 3N

Day 01:

You leave Cusco at 5:00 am arriving in the town of Cachora at 09:00 am. Your equipment will be loaded on mules and horses. From there you can observe the majestic Padrayoc and Wayna Cachoras snowcapped peaks; you can appreciate the beautiful change of the landscape from precipices to snowy mountains. On the way, you will observe the Apurimac canyon with its impressive depth and in Santa Rosa you will set up your campsite. The approximate time of the hike is about 7 hours. This day you will pass by small settlements: La Colmena (2870meters above sea level), Cocamasana (2330 meters above sea level), Torowisqana (2285 meters above sea level), Chiquisca (1950 meters above sea level); Playa Rosalina, La Huerta (2705 meters above sea level) and finally you arrive to Santa Rosa (2115 meters above sea level). (L-D)

Day 02:

Early morning (5:00am) after breakfast; you will continue your hike up to Choquequirao. You will arrive at the archaeological site of Choquequirao after approximate 5 hours. You will observe the three levels of the excavated ruins, where you can appreciate houses, terraces and other parts of this late Inca-town and finally unexplored areas. Approximately at 3 o’clock in the afternoon (depending on the weather), you can appreciate “the flight of the condors”. Choquequirao is considered as “The Last Refuge of the Inca Empire”. Lunch and dinner in Rayacpata (2910 meters above sea level). (B-L-D)

Day 03:

After an early breakfast we start walking back to Chiquisca. On the way, you can observe the Apurimac canyon. Here you will be able to appreciate the flight of the condors, the exuberant vegetation and its variety of orchids and other flowers. The time of the hike is about 8 hrs. Altitude: 3033- 1950 meters above sea level. You will pass the same small settlements as on the way up. You will stop in Playa Rosalina, where lunch will be served and after that we continue to Chiquisqa. Overnight on campsite. (B-L-D)

Day 04: Chiquisqa – Cachora – Cusco

Early morning after breakfast (5:00am), departure towards the town of Cachora . On the hike, you can appreciate the majestic snowcapped Padrayoc peak that decorates the Apurimac canyon. Arrival in Cachora after approx. 6 hours. On the way back to Cusco, you will make a stop in Cconoc and enjoy the hot natural springs. Arrival in Cusco approx. 08 p.m. (B-L)
