Mountain Biking and Trekking 4D /3N

Day 01: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Abra Malaga – Santa Maria (One day of Mountain biking)

In the morning transfer from hotel in Cusco, drive to the Sacred Valley, passing by the Villages of Chinchero (Urubamba), Ollantaytambo. Our drive will take us up to the Snow Capped Mountain of Malaga, 4350 masl and known as the mystic point where esoteric shaman people make their ritual to the Pachamama (mother earth) and the mountain spirits. Here you will be able to feel the magic of the mountain, where the wind blows continually over the plains of ichu grass. This is the world of the Andean condor, the Taruca (the largest and most elusive Andean deer), the Andean fox, the Vizcacha and small delicate flowers with intense colours. From here we will mount our bike. This is considered one of the most beautiful and amazing excursion, descending the Malaga mountain you will observe the magic valley with small trees and gigantic mosses. Arriving to Carrizales, lunch (box lunch) and after visit the archaeological site of Wamannarka (falcon town). After 5 hours of biking arrive to the small and modern town of Santa Maria 1,130 masl. Overnight in a basic hostel. (L-D)

Day 02: Santa Maria – Santa Teresa (Trekking)

Early rise and breakfast. Observe this beautiful natural environment with its waterfalls. The mountain forest provides ideal conditions for an enormous variety of crops: coca, achiote, maize, cacao, coffee and fruits. Full day trek and at the end of the day arrival to Santa Teresa, enjoy the natural and medicinal hot springs. Overnight in a basic hostel. (B-L-D)

Day 03: Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes (Trekking)

Early morning rise and breakfast. Trek across the Vilcanota river (Sacred river), observe Humming birds, Bromeliads, rare flowers such as the Bomareus or Sullu Sullu, the Andean bear or Ucumari, the Toucan, several species of fruit eating birds, Cock of the Rock, Torrent Ducks and Colourful Butterflies. Visit Intihuatana (Solar Observatory) and lunch in Hidroelectrica. Finally, arrive to the town of Aguas Calientes and overnight. (B-L-D)

Day 04: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco (Trekking)

Early morning rise and trek / climb for about 1h30 min, to arrive to the great archaeological site of Machu Picchu, continue on to the Sun Gate, the door way to the Sanctuary, 45 minutes more, (approx. 2h30 min.) After guided tour of the famous Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Rest of day free and in the afternoon, return to Cusco. (B)
